RIDING FUNDAMENTALS COURSE: OUR PHILOSOPHY

Riding Fundamentals is all about laying the foundations to create a great riding horse. We recommend this to all riders working with us to take their horses through various levels of training from the young horse, to mature and re-educated horses.

This course covers: groundwork, control of the horse's shoulders, the half halt and very importantly - rhythm! Then we go on to rider fitness, rider position and achieving a good seat, making a connection, suppleness and of course contact.

It has all the basics covered to get you started with your riding and to improve your riding wherever you are in your journey. 

All demonstrations are performed by Grand Prix rider Rochelle King-Andrews with ground work training and coaching by master horseman Greg Andrews.

PREPARATORY COURSE

DRESSAGE LEVEL:

PRELIMINARY COURSE

Preliminary is the basis for all your horse’s future trust and respect for you. Take your time, because at this level competitions are solely used to give you an idea of where your horse’s basic training needs to improve . Prelim is not about big scores and winning - take care of your horse, take care of yourself and you will be embarking on the journey of your life. 

This course covers all the movements required at the Preliminary Dressage level and is designed to build the skills and capability of you and your horse to achieve more harmony in your riding - and ultimately better scores in the arena.

DRESSAGE LEVEL:

NOVICE COURSE

Novice is a big step up from Preliminary dressage. By now your horse has learned the basic tools and skills, and will be a little older and stronger. 

This course covers all the movements required at the Novice Dressage level including how to ride volte, canter loops, the 15m canter circle, lengthening trot and canter, and leg yielding.

ELEMENTARY
